Sir, – I regularly pass the European Commission’s Berlaymont Building in Brussels, with its 27 large-diameter tapered flag poles, carefully aligned in an arc, proudly flying 27 EU flags representing its 27 member states.
Over the past year I have noticed that when I pass by during stormy weather, the flags are more or less aligned, and when I pass by on a calm day, the 27 flags are not aligned.
In my opinion, the 27 member states of the European Union needs to figure out a cost-effective, legally binding, enforceable, non-bureaucratic mechanism translated into all official languages to ensure that the 27 flags are aligned, no matter what the weather. – Yours, etc,
