Sir, – I agree with Owen Doyle who suggests that trends for replacements take the game beyond what the laws originally intended (“Modern trends in use of replacements take rugby beyond original intention. It needs to be fixed”, The Whistleblower, October 23rd).
I believe that having 15 forwards in the match day squad is contrary to the spirit of the substitution laws and that World Rugby needs to review them.
It also flies in the face of Rugby World Cup’s Charter that states that “rugby is a game for all shapes and sizes and is echoed in our stated mission to grow the global rugby family”. – Yours, etc,
