Sir, – Is it just me or is there too much chatter going on during televised rugby matches?
Time was when we had a commentator commentating on the actual game while informing us of its finer points, and as to why such a penalty or scrum was awarded. Now we have at least two commentators chatting to each other. While I admire their encyclopaedic knowledge of rugby, I am not remotely interested in the number of line breaks an obscure player made last season or whose younger brother might be coming through the academy next year, especially when an intercept try is taking place on the screen.
Please can we depart from this incessant droning and confine the commentary to what is actually happening on the pitch? – Yours, etc
