Abolishing town councils

Sir, – I see a simple solution to the concerns raised about the abolition of town councils (November 5th). The county councillors who represent towns and their surrounding areas, could set up sub-committees to replace the abolished town councils.

They could then use their collective power to lobby for funds and resources from the council. Given the savings from the initiative there should be more funds available than there would have been under the present system. A great example of doing more with less. – Yours, etc,

PAUL DEVER,
