Sir, - I was on the 50th anniversary 8.55 a.m. Aer Lingus flight from Shannon to London last Friday. Passengers were greeted by a jazz band, champagne and wine at the boarding gate. At 8.35 a.m. it was announced that, as one of the two radios did not work on the Boeing 737 and a replacement radio had to be flown from Dublin, there would be a delay. On boarding for a revised 11 a.m. departure we were informed that the new radio seemed to have affected the existing one and a further replacement was required, again from Dublin. We finally departed for London at 12.15 p.m. Some celebration. - Yours, etc.,
Patrick Flynn,
Gloucester Street, London SW1.
