Sir, - Every issue of the Aer Lingus in-flight magazine carries a prominent, full-page colour advertisement for cigarettes without any health warning. Most other European airlines do not carry cigarette ads at all.
I have written to chief executive McGann about this and received a nonsense reply. It is apparent that Aer Lingus has decided to exploit for commercial advantage the fact that it can legally carry such ads. In view of the tremendous damage to health caused by cigarettes, I find its attitude reprehensible. I would like to see Mrs O'Rourke order it to stop. - Yours, etc., Tom Sheedy,
