Madam, - Prof Henry Patterson argues (August 11th) that Eoghan Harris has associated with a number of figures whose similarity is that they each "made a serious effort to engage constructively" with Northern unionists. Prof Patterson lists Cathal Goulding among these figures; is this the same Cathal Goulding who was Official IRA chief of staff when that organisation murdered unionist senator Jack Barnhill in December 1971 and attempted to assassinate unionist minister John Taylor in February 1972? Historical revisionism can go too far! - Yours, etc,
