Sir, - In light of the fact that the public may have lost the benefits of vast amounts of unpaid tax, perhaps a satisfactory way of making amends would be for the Revenue Commissioners to enter into a "new deal" with any financial institutions found guilty of irregular practices and arrange for them to pay the public's tax bill over the next year.
