Madam, – A far more beneficial contribution which Diageo could make to society than instituting “Arthur’s Day”, would be to put notices on all its products and packaging warning of the dangers of drinking alcohol while pregnant. It has only done so on alcohol products destined for the US market because it is a legal requirement there.
Since it and other alcoholic beverage manufacturers have delayed in advising the rest of the world for 22 years, it would be wisest to extend the now out-of-date message to include advice regarding the possibility of neurological defects to foetus, child, teenager, and adult.
Corporate responsibility is for the benefit of the consumer, not an exercise in spin. – Yours, etc,
