Madam, - I thought it was rather unfortunate for Michéal Ó Nualláin (June 21st) not to notice the wonderful nuances and extraordinary sensitivities of RTÉ's showing of the Angelus at 6 p.m.
He is sadly mistaken when he refers to these various people as "zombies", a term usually associated with apathy and indifference. On the contrary, the particular images of different people (who represent a cross section of various types) are very realistic. These people are captured in their occupations, and the whole effect is one of naturalness and respect as the bells peal the notes of the Angelus in the background.
I think that one of the achievements of showing the Angelus in this way has been to register very ordinary people in the middle of the world reflecting their unique response to the presence of God in our lives. - Yours, etc.,
ANNE GORMLEY, Ennis Road, Limerick.
