Madam, - One year ago next Monday, on October 20th, 2007, our son, Paul Quinn, was brutally murdered in Oram, Co Monaghan, having been lured to a shed there by the people who killed him.
Since then we, Paul's family, have received an amazing amount of help and goodwill from people in our local Armagh and Monaghan areas, from Europe and America, and from all parts of Ireland.
We take this opportunity to thank all those people who have sent us letters, cards and Mass cards, who have telephoned us, who have sent best wishes through other people, who have backed and helped our campaign for justice and who have prayed for us.
We think, for example, of a lady in Castlerea, not in the best of health herself, who took the time to write a letter and send a card to us as well as help for our committee; we think of the elderly man who came over from Co Cavan with a Mass bouquet from all his neighbours; we think of the woman in Dublin who contacted us several times; people in Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Mayo, Donegal, Tyrone and Belfast - in fact, people from all over Ireland. Your good wishes have been very helpful to us. In the local area we had hundreds upon hundreds of callers from Armagh, Down, Monaghan and Louth.
We also appreciate the help we got from almost all political parties in Ireland, from priests, doctors, nurses, from the Garda and the PSNI. We also thank the media, who have been respectful of our wishes and were never intrusive.
We extend a special thank you to all those young people who were so upset at the murder yet took time to visit us and express their support as well as their sorrow and anger.
We intend to keep campaigning until we achieve justice for Paul. We believe that will come about and all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. - Yours, etc,
STEPHEN and BREEGE QUINN, son JAMES and daughter KATHY, Cullyhanna, Newry, Co Down.
