Sir, - Like countless other Irish rugby supporters, I was embarrassed by Ireland's humiliating and gutless performance against Scotland. This was a team endowed with individual skills but bereft of those most essential ingredients, spirit and pride.

In recent years, various Munster and Shannon teams have shown these attributes can overcome seemingly superior opposition.

Accordingly, I suggest that the Ireland team to play Scotland again on March 2nd be comprised of only Munster players.

If possible, the team should be coached by Declan Kidney and the game should be played at the spiritual home of Munster rugby - Thomond Park! - Yours, etc.,
