Sir, - In the event of John Hume not going forward for the office of President I would love to see someone of the calibre of ex-Senator Surgeon John Robb being nominated. This distinguished man has already contributed much to the whole island of Ireland, and has proved himself to be courageous, compassionate, and committed to a policy of justice and fair play for all.
His dignity and integrity could only consolidate the distinction and prestige which President Robinson gained for the Presidency during her incumbency. And what better way to exemplify our pluralism, as we stand on the threshold of the bicentenary of 1798? Let us have more of the imagination and vision which gave us Mary Robinson. - Yours, etc.,
L. G. Kilgallen,
Crosthwaite Park South, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
