Madam, - Michael O'Leary's attempts to attack any plans for any form of taxation on air travel (July 24th) are amusing and increasingly desperate.

Yes, air travel does account for far less carbon emissions than other forms of transport.

The problem for Mr O'Leary is that air travel is the least necessary and therefore a legitimate target for curtailment.

I would suggest that weekend breaks in cities and towns never heard of before Ryanair opened routes will not be missed.
