Sir, - The case made by your correspondent Richard Murray (July 24th) for the retention of the old ISE workshop on Barrow Street as the location for the new DART station is surely worth supporting. As my contribution I have contacted Dublin Corporation's planners urging them to negotiate with CIE towards achieving this objective.
The case for a National Rail Museum commemorating the vital role railways have played in Irish life is something I proposed to CIE some years back. In typical fashion the reply was that it "did not have the resources". It would appear that the imagination of CIE management is confined to the authors of their bus timetables.
In the meantime, perhaps, CIE could display old pictures, etc, at the bus stops between Sandymount and Pearse Street. It would give long-suffering passengers something to while away the time while waiting for the Number 3 bus - or is the number 3 part of our history as well? - Yours, etc.,
