Madam, - Thanks for your special Samuel Beckett centenary supplement of March 24th and for the intriguing information that Beckett experienced his artistic epiphany, or revelatory moment, not on the end of Dún Laoghaire pier, as oft quoted hitherto, but at the equivalent spot in Greystones.
In the light of Wicklow County Council's determination to accommodate big business in precisely that location, I can't help pondering how difficult it would be to experience any kind of epiphany or revelatory moment among the proposed "development" of apartments and commercial enterprise now mooted for the public harbour. Ah, how far we've progressed. . . - Yours, etc,
DAVID MARLBOROUGH, Kenilworth Park, Dublin 6w.
