Madam, - Cllr Dermot Lacey (January 14th) says it is extraordinary and disgraceful that the Minister for Justice appointed no young people to his advisory group on binge drinking.
Cllr Lacey should be aware that the Office of the Minister for Children held a consultation last October at which 250 young people between the ages of 12 and 18 participated in workshops to find solutions to young people misusing alcohol. Having attended and contributed to the Dublin workshop I very much hope that our opinions and ideas will reach not only the Minister for Children but also the Minister for Justice.
Cllr Lacey should also bear in mind that the issue of binge drinking is as much - if not more - an issue for people of his generation as of mine.
- Yours, etc,
HANNAH ORR, 6th-Year student, Newpark Comprehensive, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
