Madam, - The growing pressure of work means that the average lunch break in the Republic is now only 38 minutes, according to a report in your edition of November 22nd.
However, sitting in a traffic jam the other day, I recalled that when the lunch break was generally one hour, the rush-hour started at 5pm. Now it starts at 4pm.
Perhaps the shorter lunch break has more to do with making more time for commuting with extra pressure of work. - Yours, etc,
