A chara, – Somebody should really tell John A Murphy (September 17th) that the war his over.
His response to John Waters (Opinion, September 14th), referring to a “Provo fascist strategy” and belittling the fact that the hunger strikes were about humanitarian issues does not stand up to scrutiny and is factually incorrect.
If Mr Murphy really wants to discuss fascism and “armed struggles” (his inverted commas) in our country, perhaps he could delve a little further into our history and give us his thoughts on topics such as the “armed struggle” of the murderous Ballyseedy massacre and the actions of the Blueshirt fascists of the 1930s.
