Sir, - As a former honorary secretary of St Mark's Residents' Association, please allow me to comment on the frequent references "bleeding of lambs in a city garden", an act which took place once.
This act was performed by a group of Romany gypsies who were residing in the Springfield area of St Mark's in Tallaght. Although the act was horrific it brings hare coursing and deer hunting into mind.
When I visited the family in question, it was pointed out to me that this was part of a religious ritual and they did not realise the horror felt by neighbours.
The family apologised to the neighbours and the residents' association and moved out within one week. - Yours, etc., Peter Ryan,
Former Honorary Secretary, St Mark's Residents Association, Springfield, Dublin 24.
