Madam, - After watching the recent RTÉ Prime Time programme, I cannot help feeling that I am almost lucky (a) to have breast cancer and (b) to be living in Dublin.
I am a woman in my early forties who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April this year, had surgery in May and June, and began chemotherapy in July. The speed and efficiency of the multi-disciplinary team at St James's Hospital has to be commended. My experience to date has been very positive and I feel it important to put this on record given the negative press the breast care services have received recently.
Perhaps, as I said at the beginning I am just lucky to have breast cancer as opposed to any other form and to be living in Dublin beside a centre of excellence. Nonetheless, credit where credit is due. Take a bow, all of you in the breast care department in St James's Hospital: your treatment of me and my illness continues to be top class. - Yours, etc,
PATRICIA MULLER,
Templeogue,
