Madam, – Next Monday my son, who I love dearly, will be in the UK where he has been fortunate enough to gain employment after graduating from UCD. No doubt this reduction in the unemployed figure will be greeted as a success by a Government that seems committed only to self-indulgence in all matters, political and pecuniary.
I can forgive this Government a lot, on the theory that it knew not what it was doing but, once again, the brightest and the best, those with “get up and go” are getting up and going.
This, more than any debt incurred to bail out banks, will be this Government’s legacy. I hope they’re proud of it.
– Yours, etc,
