Cancelled Soccer Match

Sir, - May I add my voice in condemning those responsible for the cancellation of the planned soccer match between Donegal Celtic and the RUC at a neutral venue last Saturday.

At a time of reconciliation, compromise and respect for divergent views, this was a most retrograde step that can achieve only further distrust, suspicion and alienation. Surely if real and lasting peace is to be fostered and nurtured in the North, all intimidation, like violence, should be dead and buried with all the "old unhappy things and battles long ago."
