Sir, - In his recent lecture in Dublin, Cardinal Hume spoke of the absurd cost of the proposed Millennium Dome in London. I propose that we in Ireland celebrate the year 2000 with the provision of a home and services for children in need and better support for foster-parents and families in order to prevent more homelessness. "Home 2000" could be the rallying cry for us to put right our failure to care for children in our country, which was admitted to the UN Commission for Children's Rights by our Government. This neglect can not be allowed go on. Pleading lack of money is a disgrace when one sees the ostentatious wealth enjoyed by some and the tax evasion and selfish greed evident in recent scandals. "Where there's a will, there's a way". We need a genuine determination by our leaders to remedy this situation soon, certainly by the year 2000. - Yours, etc.,Michael Power,Springlawn Road,Dublin 15.
