Madam, - I'd like to join my neighbour Diarmuid O'Reilly (February 2nd) in calling for the bulldozing of Carrickmines Castle. As he rightly points out, it is only "old rubble".
While we're at it, I'd like to suggest that Dublin Castle be demolished as well; it's a bit run down and we can always build a new better one. Not only that, but Tara should be levelled: it's only a lump of mud and couldn't we build something useful there like a big, shiny spike? And what about that Dun Aengus on Inishmore - sure isn't that falling into the sea? Time to get rid of it.
And what's this about saving the forests of Ireland? They're only a bunch of old trees. Let's rip them all down and tarmac the entire country. Then there'll be no traffic problems. - Yours, etc.,
DÓNAL O'LIATHÁIN, Shrewsbury Lawn, Cabinteely, Dublin 18.
