Sir, – I don’t know who Andrew Doyle (December 28th) was disagreeing with in challenging with relish the denial of critical thinking, but he certainly wasn’t disagreeing with me. In my letter with regard to changing school patronage and thinking (December 27th), I merely inferred that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between “what to think” and “how to think” (for example: problem-solving methods in maths and science, and critical thinking in maths and science).
This is not to deny the much-needed and valued “how to think”.
I have to say, that after reading Mr Doyle’s letter, I felt like an actor who had received a bad review for a movie. The problem, for me, was that I wasn’t even in the movie. Yours, etc,
