Madam, - I am writing in reply to James P Hendrick's letter of August 22nd.
My experience in this field was that I acquired a medical card when I was already a patient of a chiropodist. While continuing to be charged the full rate of €40 for minor procedures, I was advised that I had to go on a waiting list for medical card patients. That was over two years ago. I am not yet on the list, even to pay the €10 surcharge of which Mr Hendrick complains.
Chiropody is something the HSE should sort out. It should have its house in order before issuing medical cards to senior citizens who have already paid a lifetime of taxes and are entitled to some return. - Yours, etc,
Mrs MARY MALIN, St Andrews Grove, Malahide, Co Dublin.
