Sir, - Stephen O'Dowd (July 19th) asks: "What is so wrong with successful people giving money to charity. . ?"
I have no objection to successful (does he mean rich?) people giving money to charity. Nor do I have any objection to their residing in Ireland for tax purposes, eschewing tax avoidance schemes and paying tax on the same proportion of their real gross incomes as others do. - Yours, etc.,
Brian J. Goggin, Stradbally North, Castleconnell, Co Limerick.
