A chara, - May I, through your newspaper, record my thanks to the many people in Ireland who have made possible the visit to Ireland of children from the Chernobyl-contaminated area of Luninets in Belarus. In every Irish family we were met with hospitality and a warm reception. Our children had the added benefit of using their English in a work-experience situation. We had the opportunity of seeing many interesting places and would like to thank the kind people we met in the Viking Centre, Bewleys, Guinnesses and in the GAA in Dublin. In the Banner County we met lovely people in Lahinch, Quilty, Liscannor and Ennistymon.
We leave with good memories of your country, your families and your beautiful people. We would like to thank the Christian Brothers for sponsoring and organising this trip. Special thanks to Norman Dingle and Br. Michael Murray for their time and help.
We will never forget the beautiful month we had in your country - rain and all. We leave hooked on hurling and exhausted from the excitement of Kildare and Meath. You have a beautiful country. It was lovely to be part of it for a short time. Thank you. - Yours, etc.,
