Sir, - I must express my double astonishment at the letter from Cathy Sheridan (February 8th). I'm astonished that not one person stopped to help her change her tyre - and I'm astonished at her own sexist observation that 15 males passed by without offering help and there was a male in a car across the road who didn't help either.
How would she feel if I wrote a letter detailing how I live in an apartment by myself and that not one woman in the adjoining apartments has offered to come in and do my laundry or clean my house or make my meals? Remarks like Ms Sheridan's do little to help the cause of women who want to be seen as equals to men. I wonder how many women walked past her without offering to help? - Yours, etc.,
Rob Marrey, Bray, Co Wicklow.
