Sir, - I refer to D. Sowby's letter (September 5th) wherein he queries the difference between the driving standards of members of The Christian Road Safety Association and the members of other world religions. As long as people obey their own particular spiritual leaders, the answer is that there should be no difference. If Mr Sowby happens to be, for example, a Buddhist, I see no reason why he should not interest himself in promoting the Buddhist Road Safety Association, and a worthy project it would be. It so happens that the founder of the CRSA over 60 years ago was a Christian and it has followed on from there. Morality and driving standards are not the prerogative of Christians, but if our secular leaders fail us, then surely our spiritual leaders should step in? - Yours, etc., Douglas McCowen,
