Sir, - I read with interest Kevin Myers's very thought-provoking Irishman's Diary (July 13th) concerning the terrible recent coach collision in Spain. The children from that coach crash were from one of our schools. In fact two of our schools were involved - they were en route to a summer camp in La Aguilera. We are a teaching order founded in 1823 in France to teach the poor. Our founder, St Louis Gringnion de Montfort, founded three congregations of which ours is one.

Kevin Myers rightly spoke about the puniness of space that the press used to report the crash considering the enormity of the incident. However, in my view, the people who read the news are as varied as those who read the sport pages. Among those who read Kevin Myers's "slot" in The Irish Times many will have sent a prayful plea from the heart to God our Father to welcome them, however prematurely that may be, to their heavenly home. Thank you, Kevin. May they rest in peace. - Yours, etc.,
