Sir, – It is to be hoped, and is indeed essential, that our county engineers are not just restoring promenades and coast roads of those towns damaged by recent storms to an “as you were” condition.
We have had more than enough incompetence in the wasteful use of taxpayers’ money in the past years.
Current advice tells us that these storms will be a recurring feature of our weather.
Let us start now, on a national basis, and build real sea defences, where necessary, that will withstand the elements for years to come. – Yours, etc,
