Sir, – With the centenary of the Easter Rising less than four years away, a fitting tribute to the heroes of 1916 would be a memorial trail following the route of the perilous escape of the 300 occupants of the GPO, with emphasis on the houses where some of the signatories of the Proclamation spent their last hours.
It beggars belief that, after all that they have brought down on our heads, developers should yet again be in a position to wield the wrecking ball to such a priceless heritage. John Creedon (Creedon’s Cities, RTÉ 1, July 9th) is to be lauded for his wake-up call alerting us to the real danger that such a thing could happen. – Yours, etc,
