Madam, – In the Louth/Meath fiasco last Sunday we witnessed an injustice which the High Court could resolve easily.
A Meath forward was in the “square” before he received the ball; the umpire should signal a “square ball” by pointing to the parallelogram.
When a goal is scored legally the umpire should signal this by raising a green flag; the umpire did not raise a green flag until he was directed to do so by the referee whose judgment should have been informed by consultation with both umpires.
The referee has admitted his error; the High Court should be consulted by the Louth County Board so as to redress the grievous wrong. – Yours, etc,
