Sir, - Kevin Myers may have a point hidden somewhere in his tirade about Clinton and Kosovo (May 19th). However, when the foundation for his argument is that Americans refusing to go to war in Vietnam were unwilling to lay down their lives for their country, the whole article has a hollow ring. The sheer and colossal stupidity of the war in Vietnam was plain to many at the time of that war, and has been made plainer time and again since then.
The notion that the welfare of America depended on that bloody farce is very much a minority view. Surely Mr Myers has noticed. More power to those who saw it at the time and refused to dignify the misadventure with their blood. - Yours, etc., Des Johnson,
