Sir , – Can I wholeheartedly support Michael D’Arcy’s call for a positive and systematic approach to sensible cross-Border collaboration to help both parts of the island to respond to the economic crisis (Opinion, March 13th)? Contrast Mr D’Arcy’s constructive approach to Gerry Adams’s divisive and futile demand for a Border poll (Breaking News, March 10th).
It is true, however, that Prof Brian Walker’s portrayal of the increasingly perilous position of the Protestant community (“Watching the fate of the southern Protestant”, March 12th) will inevitably caution all pro-unionists’ approaches to the idea of increasing cross-Border co-operation.
Having been generous to the position of the Protestant community, especially in relation to education for many years, it seems that, by accident or design, this is no longer the case. – Yours, etc,
