A Chara, - May I say how much I enjoyed Michael Commane's piece (An Irishman's Diary, July 22nd) on his 40 years of cycling around Dublin. As a longtime cyclist myself, I regretted having to cease my regular trips to the Joyce Tower in Sandycove due to heavy traffic on Rock Road. Now my favourite cycles are through Belfield Park or out to the Bull Island in the evenings, when the port traffic has eased.Of course, the best time to cycle in Dublin is early on Sunday mornings, when you can take in the beauty of the city and its environs.Like Michael Commane, I welcome the election in our constiuency of a fellow-cyclist in John gormley, but must point out that he joins another cyclist in the person of our senior TD, Ruari Quinn. - Tours, etc., Anthony Jordan, Gilford Road, Dublin 4.
