Sir, - I must add my voice to those opposing the recent granting of planning permission for the demolition of the Dalkey Island Hotel. Is nothing sacred? Will there be anything left of Dalkey for the ordinary people to enjoy? Yet again the common good is swept aside to benefit the wealthy. Access to Coliemore Harbour and Dalkey Island - a beauty spot dear to theheart of local Dalkey people and indeed to the hearts of the many tourists, if we are to judge by the number of tour buses that pull in there - will now be severely restricted. The rape of Dalkey by developers has continued unabated for a few years now. The planners are clearly not going to stop this. In fact, they seem to be encouraging it.There is still time - about three weeks in fact - for the people most affected by this to make their voices heard. They can do so by writing now to the planning authorities appealing against the granting of this permission. - Yours, etc.,Nora BarryMapas Road,Dalkey, Co Dublin.
