Sir, - "Our future is your priority" would indeed now seem to be the most fitting slogan for our Euro election candidates (those declared so far, anyhow). What other explanation could there be for the deafening silence from our candidates and politicians when Dana was shut off the public airwaves last weekend?
Dana's future was certainly not their priority, nor was that of those who might share her values, e.g. Catholics, Christians, pro-life people, those outside the major political parties. (Will those in Munster with such values not have anyone to vote for in the Euro elections in June?)
Such a selective silence, and enforced silencing, has nothing to do with a genuine priority of democratic interest over self-interest, of the people before "the party". Dana today, who tomorrow?
Or maybe I had better slow down a little the next time I pass one of those election posters and make sure I am reading them correctly. - Yours, etc., Michael Sheehan,
Castlelyons, Fermoy, Co. Cork.
