Madam, - Vincent Browne, as usual, makes a lot of sense in his column about the trial of those charged after the death of Brian Murphy (Opinion, March 10th). Regardless of one's view of the subsequent verdicts, everyone must feel deeply for the family of Brian Murphy and the absolute devastation they are enduring.
However, Mr Browne's accusing the drinks industry of "fuelling the fires of madness and violence", is tantamount to blaming the car industry when motorists exceed the speed limit, or drive dangerously or irresponsibly.
Shouldn't we move on from playing the blame game, and accept responsibility for our own actions? - Yours, etc.,
TOM COOPER, Delaford Lawn, Knocklyon, Dublin 16 .
