Sir, - Could it because of continuing frustration with the effectiveness of Youth Defence in graphically communicating to people the essential evil of abortion that people such as Drapier (hiding behind a pseudonym!) are unable to resist resorting to the old, rejected tactic of vilifying those you disagree with rather than addressing their arguments (The Irish Times, October 6th)?
A depressing prospect, really, as we face another few months of pre-referendum public debate! I question, too, whether it's such a bad thing to be labelled "fundamentalist" for defending the most fundamental of human rights, the right to life of the unborn. - Yours, etc.,
D Bourke, Lee Road, Cork.
