Sir, - My reply to Sheila Crowley (December 17th) is that I was not as lucky as a child or as a young mother as she may assume. For reasons that are personal and private I do not feel that I have to explain - except that sometimes the burden of carrying another child can be a suicidal point when you already have three children under four, a very ill husband, and no income. No church or state would have been the slightest bit interested in how one could cope. I would like to remind her that the Catholic Church does still not allow contraception. - Yours, etc.,
Gwen Woods, Herbert Park, Dublin 4.
