Madam, - In the absence of any intelligible information on the issues to involved in the Lisbon Treaty, I have felt distinctly uneasy at the hectoring lectures from Dick Roche, Charlie McCreevy et al to vote Yes or the sky will fall.
Stephen Collins, however, has clarified matters considerably (Opinion & Analysis, February 16th). He suggests that Bertie Ahern is going to the High Court mainly to delay the final report of the Mahon tribunal until after the Lisbon Treaty has been ratified.
This would allow him to have a clear run at the new post of President of the European Council, knowing that whatever Mahon says about him afterwards will be a thing of nothing.
The thought of this inarticulate, indecisive, bumbling individual continuing to represent me, and this State, is simply too much to contemplate.
I now know exactly how I will vote in the Lisbon Treaty referendum. - Yours, etc,
ANNE WALSH, Ballintemple, Cork.
