Defence Forces

Sir, - On September 11th you kindly published, under the heading "Neglect of Defence Forces", a letter from me. Although the letter was signed "Tom MacGinty" it appeared in print over the name "John MacGinty". I was long enough a journalist to know these things can happen without any logical explanation.

Having written a history of the Irish Naval Service and being a member of the Maritime Institute of Ireland, I feel that whatever small influence the letter might have had with my name attached, it would have none coming from the pen of an unknown John MacGinty. - Yours, etc.,
