Madam, – Your unctuous Editorial on Irish/Chinese relations, (June 19th), is strange, given your recent stance on human rights in Gaza. Perhaps you have never heard of Tibet, Falun Gong, or the displaced rural communities of China. No chance of a flotilla up the Yangtze then.

Incidentally, you are correct about the commonalites between Ireland and China – particularly the exploitation of, and complete indifference to our own poor. – Yours, etc,
