Sir, - On reading Wednesday's edition of The Irish Times I was dismayed by the article "Two caravans in an Ireland of no welcomes" by Colm Keena. Given the delicate issue facing the family of the 13-year-old rape victim, I find it surprising that your paper chose to publish the story and the accompanying photograph.
When the X case entered the public arena back in 1992 I cannot recall any publication divulging the victim's address, least still presenting photographs of her home. While "side of the road Ireland" may not be a desired address for most of us, those who live there are entitled to respect and dignity, particularly when faced with a situation of such magnitude as this. - Yours, etc., John Johnson
Whitecliff,
