Sir, – I will be extremely disappointed if Fintan O’Toole’s brilliant article on pervasive disappointment (Opinion, January 29th) fails to kick-start a public backlash against those we appointed to high office on the understanding they would not disappoint us. Alas we are, as O’Toole says, regularly disappointed and we can safely predict more disappointment going forward. – Yours, etc,
