Madam, - Since I read a letter in your edition of August 29th about the cost of Dublin Bus running practically empty buses around the city, I have become an almost obsessive observer of this phenomenon. It's perfectly true: the majority of buses I have observed at off-peak times are carrying very few passangers.
These buses take up substantial road space, at significant cost (partly from the taxpayer) and the number of people they carry could be transported much more efficiently.
In these carbon-conscious days, surely somebody should be addressing this issue. - Yours, etc,
