Sir, - Whilst I sympathise with Kevin P. Shally (July 19th) on the wanton destruction suffered by his car at the hands of careless cyclists, I admit to feelings of alarm and amazement in the face of his expressed "pain and trauma" following such incidents. I always assumed "pain and trauma" were emotions attendant on the loss of a loved one, i.e. a human being.
